Lawyer Overview

Georg Mikes is a Fachanwalt für Arbeitsrecht (German labor law specialist) and has wide-ranging experience in labor and employment law. Before joining Jones Day, he acquired industrial experience while working in the legal department of a software giant and also practiced for several years in a smaller law firm, where he performed labor litigations at the labor courts and the appellate labor court.

Georg is currently head of the Frankfurt labor and employment law team. He works primarily on the labor aspects of transactions, but he also handles litigation against individual employees and employee representation organizations for Jones Day clients. In addition, his practice has focused on company pension issues, employment of executives, executive compensation, and European and private international law and its interconnection with labor law. As a result of this link, he has developed a subspecialization in employee data protection matters in domestic law, EU data protection legislature, co-determination, and data protection in due diligence. He has advised major companies in the chemical and pharmaceutical, automobile, telecommunication, metal, and banking industries on the use of temporary employees, the implementation of stock option plans, transfer of undertaking issues, and the scope of information requirements by employee members on a supervisory board.

Georg was born in Prague and is fluent in German, English, and Czech.
