MISCHEL & HORN, P.C. represents clients in all phases of civil and criminal appellate litigation. Our attorneys practice in New York and New Jersey State courts, as well as all Federal courts. In addition to appeals, our firm offers representation in disciplinary proceedings, sentencing proceedings, habeas corpus proceedings and other post-verdict or post-judgment litigation.

The philosophy of our firm is that appellate litigation, as with many areas of practice, requires unique skills and knowledge.  Our attorneys have benefited from extensive appellate experience in public service prior to entering private practice. Richard E. Mischel served as Deputy Chief of the Appeals Bureau of the Kings County District Attorney's Office and later as Principal Law Secretary to the Presiding Justice of the Appellate Division, Second Department of New York State. Scott T. Horn also served as Senior Appellate Court Attorney to the Appellate Division, Second Department and then as Principal Law Secretary to an Associate Justice of that Court. In addition, Messrs. Mischel and Horn have written and lectured extensively about appellate practice.
