High-Profile Case History

Faupel, Fraser & Fessler is experienced in dealing with high-profile cases that require a sensitivity to the media and public opinion, as well as the important responsibility of counseling individuals in sensitive personal business decisions.

We gained national recognition in 1993 as prevailing counsel in the landmark case In Re Clausen --the "Baby Jessica" case -- which was successfully argued in the Michigan Court of Appeals and the Michigan Supreme Court. Ms. Faupel obtained a jury verdict of $782,000 in a complex securities fraud case, and in 1996, we prevailed in U.S. District Court on a First Amendment employment claim after securing a jury verdict of $1.2 million.

More recently, our law firm won a landmark decision in the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals in Americans with Disabilities (ADA) case.

Marian Faupel has authored 15 law review articles in the areas of commercial law, tax law, real estate, trusts, and family law. In addition, she was a senior editor of the Wayne State Law review and serves as an adjunct professor at the Wayne State School of Law.

Faupel, Fraser & Fessler practices in state and federal trial courts of Southeastern Michigan, the appellate courts -- including the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, -- and the United States Supreme Court. Marian Faupel has represented out-of-state clients as a pro hac vice attorney in Indiana and Florida.
