Law Firm Overview
Gordon Muir and Foley, LLP (GM&F), a mid size firm founded in 1947, maintains offices in Hartford and Old Saybrook, Connecticut. GM&F is dedicated to providing prompt, reliable and cost-effective legal representation. The firm's objective is to resolve disputes for our clients as expeditiously and cost effectively as possible. While our attorneys are skilled and active in the trial of cases, our attorneys are also adept and experienced in the negotiation, mediation and arbitration processes.
The members of our firm are actively engaged in Bar and industry associations and frequently serve as seminar speakers and commentators regarding issues in their respective practice areas. Our attorneys are provided with state of the art computer, technical and research resources so that the attorneys can stay abreast of new developments in their practice areas to best serve our clients.
Each of our practice groups works in concert with other attorneys in the firm to most effectively provide our clients with a broad range of legal services. Generally, one attorney is assigned the ongoing and continuing responsibility for each client matter and that attorney makes every effort to be readily accessible to the client. The firm avoids, wherever possible, the involvement of several associates on a case to avoid unnecessary duplication of effort and cost.
The general practice areas of the firm include the following:
- The Litigation Practice Group http://www.gmflaw.com/litigate.htm concentrates on the defense of claims throughout the State of Connecticut at the request of self-insured businesses and insurance companies. In addition to the representation of clients in general tort liability and workers' compensation cases, the firm is actively engaged in employment, product liability, environmental, professional malpractice and insurance coverage matters.
- The Construction and Commercial Law Practice Group http://www.gmflaw.com/construc.htm represents clients in complex commercial law matters of all types with a particular emphasis on the preparation and negotiation of contracts and the resolution of disputes arising in the various stages of the construction process. Construction law has been a significant part of our firm's practice for over 20 years. We represent public and private property owners, design professionals, construction managers, general contractors and subcontractors, material suppliers and sureties.
- The Personal Injury Litigation Practice Group http://www.gmflaw.com/injury.htm emphasizes the representation of individual clients who have claims for injuries or property damage resulting from accidents, malpractice, fires, and other occurrences.
- The Individual Practice Group http://www.gmflaw.com/individ.htm represents individuals in elder law, estate planning, estate administration, and residential real estate matters.
- The Business Law and Commercial Real Estate Practice Group http://www.gmflaw.com/business.htm Group represents our business clients in connection with general business, employment, financing and commercial real estate matters. This representation encompasses all legal aspects of owning and operating a business including the acquisition, organization, funding, day to day business management, sale and dissolution of corporations, limited liability companies and partnerships.
