Lawyer Overview
Norman Asher was a partner in the firm's Corporate and Tax Departments through the end of 1997. His practice focused on acquisitions of both public and private companies, and general securities offerings. In addition, he represented various start-up companies.
Prior to joining the firm in 1955, Mr. Asher was an attorney in the Legislation and Regulations Division of the Office of the Chief Counsel of the Internal Revenue Service in Washington, D.C., and worked primarily on the dividend and reorganization sections of the Internal Revenue Code of 1954.
Mr. Asher served as a Trustee of Clark University for 20 years. For more than 30 years, his family has played a leadership role in the Combined Jewish Philanthropies and several of its constituent agencies.
