Lawyer Overview

Jim Jones represents clients in complex commercial, class action, and multijurisdictional litigation. He has prosecuted and defended these actions in state and federal trial and appellate courts around the country and before arbitration panels. These actions have included breach of contract, business tort, accountants' liability, environmental, product liability, fraud, consumer fraud, and like claims. In these proceedings, Jim has represented energy companies, chemical companies, financial institutions, telecommunications companies, medical device manufacturers, and pharmaceutical manufacturers.

Jim's recent commercial litigation docket involves matters for electrical power suppliers and steel manufacturers like EME Homer City Generation, L.P. and United States Steel Corp. and their rights and obligations under coal supply agreements. His current product liability work includes the defense of Wyeth Pharmaceuticals in its antidepressant litigation. Jim's jury trial experience includes both commercial and product liability cases.

Jim serves as administrative partner of the Pittsburgh Office. He is a member of the board of directors of the World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh. Jim is a Fellow of the Columbus Bar Foundation, having practiced with the Firm's Columbus Office for 11 years. Jim has been honored by the Legal Services Corporation, which named him the "Nation's Urban Pro Bono Publico Attorney of the Year" for his work with the homeless, and the Columbus Bar Association conferred upon him its Community Service Award.
