Lawyer Overview

Renaud Bonnet's areas of practice include venture capital, private equity, M&A, and capital markets. In the past 10 years, his main focus has been on the representation of start-ups and high-growth public companies and their management (or investors) at all stages of their development in a wide variety of industries (life sciences, energy, software, mobile/telecom, semiconductors, and the internet). He has acted as principal lawyer in a significant number of early to late stage venture capital financing rounds, LBO and M&A transactions, joint ventures, IPOs, and tender offers.

Renaud's recent representations of tech/biotech companies include Alizé Pharma, Cellectis, Criteo, Cytheris, GoAdv, Hubwoo, Inside Contactless, Novexel, Rewatt, Talend, and Voltalia, and, on the investors' side, Activa Capital, Alven, Crédit Agricole PE, Elaia Partners, Endeavor, I-Source Gestion, Serena Capital, Seventure Partners, and Viveris.

Renaud also served as lead lawyer in a number of recent high-profile strategic transactions, including: the acquisition and building up by Verbund (the largest Austrian company) of a strategic stake in, and setting up of a joint venture with, Poweo; Completel's friendly takeover by Altice for $1 billion; and the successful defense of Wavecom against Gemalto's hostile bid and subsequent friendly takeover of Wavecom by Sierra Wireless.

Before joining Jones Day in 2000, Renaud practiced with Stibbe Simont Monahan & Duhot in Brussels and Paris (now Latham & Watkins in Paris) and spent a year in New York as an associate with Davis Polk & Wardwell.
