Lisa is a shareholder in the Energy Law Group and the Business Litigation Section of Briggs and Morgan, Professional Association. Located in our Minneapolis office, she focuses her practice principally in the areas of:

• Energy law
• Real estate/eminent domain litigation
• Commercial litigation
• Creditors’ remedies

In her energy practice, Lisa represents public utilities facing administrative, regulatory and transactional issues related to power generation, transmission and distribution. Her experience ranges from complex energy infrastructure development to power purchase disputes. Lisa regularly handles matters such as certificate of need and routing proceedings before the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission (MPUC) for power plants and high voltage transmission lines; land rights disputes; and easement acquisitions.

Lisa concentrates a portion of her practice on real estate, where she has assisted clients with foreclosures by action, evictions, title insurance claims, partition actions, eminent domain matters and commercial lease disputes. She has extensive experience representing both landowners and condemning authorities in eminent domain actions and related environmental issues. As a complement to this experience, she has represented creditors in a wide variety of collection matters in bankruptcy and state courts, including Article 9 foreclosures and replevin actions.

In her general litigation practice, Lisa represents local and national companies in resolving business disputes, including contract and business tort claims. She is well versed in both district and appellate courts.

Lisa has represented individuals in criminal appeals pro bono for the State of Minnesota Public Defenders Office. Named a "Rising Star" by Minnesota Law & Politics, she is a member of the Hennepin County Bar Association and Minnesota Women Lawyers. Lisa is admitted to practice in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Kansas, North Dakota and South Dakota.

Born in San Francisco, California, Lisa received her B.A. in communications from Santa Clara University, M.S.J. in journalism from Northwestern University, and M.B.A. from Wichita State University. She graduated summa cum laude and first in her class from Washburn University Law School. Before joining Briggs, she was a clerk with the Minnesota Supreme Court for Chief Justice Kathleen A.
