Lawyer Overview

Kevin Boyce is a trial lawyer with experience in product liability, complex commercial, toxic tort, food safety, and medical device litigation. Since joining Jones Day in 1996, Kevin has obtained defense verdicts in significant, high-risk cases and has served as lead counsel for the Firm's clients in state and federal courts around the country. Kevin has particular experience in defending class actions and other mass tort litigation as well as claims by individuals for personal injuries. He is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association and the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association.

Kevin's recent activities include:

• As lead counsel, obtained a dismissal with prejudice for R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. in a personal injury action seeking millions of dollars in compensatory and punitive damages.

• As trial counsel, secured a defense verdict for Nextel Communications in an action brought by the affiliates of Sprint Corporation, seeking to enjoin the merger between Sprint and Nextel.

• As part of the trial team, helped Nextel Communications defeat an injunction brought by Nextel Partners who sought to upset the merger between Nextel and Sprint and to prevent Nextel from engaging a multimillion dollar campaign promoting the merged company's brand.

• Worked as part of the trial team for Parker Hannifin in connection with a number of commercial aircraft crashes allegedly caused by Parker products and continues to work on a variety of aircraft matters for Parker Hannifin. In re: Air Crash/Palembang v. Parker, Western District of Washington at Seattle, remanded to Northern Ohio Dist. Ct., MDL 1276, Master File No. C99-589C.

• Helped a client of the Firm achieve a satisfactory result in a complex food safety matter involving allegations of e-coli infection.
