Law Firm Overview

Christopher DuBois and Mary Cruickshank opened the law firm of DuBois and Cruickshank, P.A., on May 14, 1997, after working together for a number of years at another insurance defense firm. Floy Busby joined the firm as an associate in 2002. Jessica Varn, a legal research and writing instructor at Florida State University College of Law, is also affiliated with the firm in an of counsel status.

The firm specializes in workers' compensation defense at both the trial and appellate levels and is conscious of the costs associated with defending workers' compensation claims in Florida. Consequently, each member of the firm is committed to providing the highest level of quality legal work in the most efficient and cost-effective manner possible. The firm's geographical practice area includes the entire North Florida area, west to Pensacola, east to Jacksonville and south to Ocala. Based upon their collective experience practicing in the North Florida area, members of the firm are quite familiar with the judges, mediators and lawyers in the three districts from Ocala, north.

During their respective practices, the members of the firm have handled a wide range of issues, including occupational disease, repetitive trauma, exposure and multi-carrier claims, along with Special Disability Trust Fund recovery. Christopher DuBois and Mary Cruickshank are both certified by the Department of Insurance as instructors, and are licensed to provide educational seminars to clients for continuing education credits.

Since the firm's conception, Christopher DuBois and Mary Cruickshank have both made a strong commitment to maintaining manageable case loads to ensure that they are readily accessible to their clients to discuss specific issues in pending cases, and address general questions regarding Florida workers' compensation law. The members of the firm understand the day-to-day pressures that employers, adjusters and risk managers face in dealing with workers' compensation issues and stand firm in their commitment to be accessible to assist in the resolution of these time-sensitive issues.
