…30 Years Ago, on July 1, 1975, three young lawyers formed a law firm in Northern Arizona. Acquiring a phone line, 774-1478, was easy. But, they were unable to qualify for a loan to remodel their chosen office: A downtown Flagstaff basement. Their wives, however, because they had paying jobs, did qualify and provide the credit needed to open the doors. Fritz Aspey, Harold Watkins and Lou Diesel started with one client – Coconino County indigent criminal defense (one year and 600 cases in exchange for $37,000). They staked their future (and there wives' credit ratings) on hard work, fair fees and easy accessibility. Those simple principles have served them well.
