Lawyer Overview

Ted Chung is a partner in the firm's Litigation practice. He focuses on representing companies in complex business litigation, conducting internal corporate investigations, responding to government enforcement actions, counseling clients on compliance matters and defending white collar criminal cases.

Ted has had a distinguished and multifaceted career in both public service and private practice, having previously served as a federal judicial law clerk, a litigation associate at another major international law firm, an Assistant U.S. Attorney, a member of Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley's cabinet, and the second-in-command of the City of Chicago's 290-attorney Law Department. Ted's strong technical legal skills and extensive supervisory and management background complement the perspective and judgment he has developed through substantial experience handling complex and sensitive matters at the intersection of law, policy and operations.

In addition to leading wide-ranging investigations and successfully bringing the resulting cases as a federal prosecutor, Ted has spearheaded and coordinated important, closely-watched initiatives designed to enhance public safety and the City of Chicago's corporate governance capabilities. Ted served as a point person for the city in its discussions with high-level representatives of the U.S. Attorney's Office, the FBI, the Illinois Attorney General's Office, and other agencies, and likewise was instrumental in developing and implementing the city's response to high-profile enforcement actions.

Ted has tried 14 cases to verdict (7 as first chair) and argued 9 appeals before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.  Since 2003, Ted has held an appointment as an adjunct professor in trial advocacy at Northwestern University School of Law.
