Patty Carroll's practice at Jones Day focuses on domestic and international commercial litigation and arbitration, including cases involving bankruptcy, product liability, intellectual property, securities, and other disputes.

Over the past five years, Patty has litigated a wide variety of matters in some of the nation's largest and most complex chapter 11 reorganization cases, including Dana Corporation and Tower Automotive. She also has extensive experience in the area of product liability litigation, concentrating in the area of pharmaceutical drug and device products. Patty's experience includes serving on the national counsel trial team to Johnson & Johnson and its subsidiary, McNeil-PPC, for nearly a decade. As part of this work, Patty defended J&J and McNeil in more than 60 drug product liability cases in federal and state courts throughout the United States. In addition, Patty's product liability experience includes litigation on behalf of R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company in numerous complex product liability suits. Patty has participated in patent infringement litigations involving the popular Blackberry device as well as a recent trademark case involving international banking institutions. She was part of the Jones Day team representing a Scotland-based international bank in a shareholder class action and an adversary proceeding involving allegations stemming from the financial collapse of Enron. Furthermore, Patty prepared and participated in a successful international arbitration on behalf of Texas Instruments involving a joint venture to manufacture semiconductor chips in Thailand.

Patty is a coauthor of "Expert Discovery: What Is Discoverable?" N.L.J., Dec. 11, 2006, which is an analysis and commentary on the parameters of expert discovery when an expert assumes the dual roles of consultant and testifying expert.

She is a member of the New York State Bar Association.
