Sam Goncz's practice focuses on developing, implementing, and protecting wealth transfer and business succession plans for high net worth individuals and families. He is a member of the Firm's Private Equity and Wealth Management practices.

Sam's private clients include owners of closely held businesses, entrepreneurs, executives, and those of multigenerational wealth. He has successfully represented many private clients before the Internal Revenue Service, state taxing authorities, and the U.S. Tax Court concerning wealth transfer tax matters. Sam also represents executors, trustees, and beneficiaries in estate and trust controversies.

Sam has been published in Tax Management's Estates, Gifts and Trusts Journal and The Monthly Digest of Tax Articles, as well as internet-based professional publications, and has authored chapters in Tax Management's Tax Practice Series on "Small Business Stock" and "Start-up Expenditures." He lectures for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute's continuing legal education seminars and has spoken extensively to client and professional groups regarding wealth transfer and succession planning, estate and trust administration, federal estate, gift and generation-skipping taxation, income taxation, and related topics.

Sam is an elected member of the Probate and Trust Council of the Allegheny County Bar Association. He also is active in the Southwestern Pennsylvania Synod of the ELCA and is a member of a number of committees and boards of related charitable organizations.
