Jason McDonell's practice focuses on a wide range of commercial litigation matters. He has extensive experience with lawsuits involving trade secrets, copyrights, mergers and acquisitions, patent royalty agreements, employee stock option plans, joint venture and partnership agreements, and complex commercial contracts. Jason regularly counsels clients on the innovative use of mediation and arbitration to minimize and avoid costly court litigation.
Jason's recent representations include an inventor in a patent royalties case against a major manufacturer of semiconductor manufacturing equipment, a leading semiconductor manufacturer in action against a partner for trade secrets misappropriation resulting from an acquisition, and a leading global web services company in defense of fraud and misrepresentation claims. Prior to joining Jones Day, Jason was a partner with and head of the litigation department of the Silicon Valley office of Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP.
Jason is a member of the California Bar, the Bar Association of San Francisco, and the Santa Clara County Bar Association.
Jason regularly contributes his services to pro bono matters including representation of a Catholic chaplain in a civil rights case arising out of revocation of rights to minister to minor inmates incarcerated in adult county jail and the representation of the California Youth Symphony in a commercial dispute.
