    Dan is a shareholder in the firm of Briggs and Morgan, Professional Association. He is a member of the Labor and Employment Section. Dan practices principally in the areas of:

    Dan has extensive experience working on behalf of employers in union election cases, unfair labor practice cases, union contract negotiations, arbitrations, employment discrimination matters, employment termination cases, drug testing and general personnel matters.

    He is a frequent speaker at various labor and employment law seminars and has published articles on various topics, such as representation of management in union election cases, collective bargaining, labor contract administration, wrongful termination, wage and hour matters, sexual harassment, defamation, drug testing, and smoking in the workplace.

    Dan is listed in The Best Lawyers in America and Minnesota Super Lawyers, and has been selected as a “Leading Minnesota Attorney.” He is a fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers, a very prestigious national organization with limited membership.

    Dan is a former chair of the Ramsey County Bar Association Labor and Employment Law Section, and former chair of the governing council of the Labor and Employment Law Section of the Minnesota Bar Association. He has been on the faculty at the University of St. Thomas in the Graduate School of Business, where he taught a course on labor relations in the Human Resources MBA Program. He also teaches the Labor Law course at William Mitchell College of Law. 

    Dan has completed a number of courses toward a master’s degree in human resource management, including organizational behavior, at the University of St. Thomas. He is currently a member of the American Bar Association Labor and Employment Law Section. In addition, he is a certified civil mediation and arbitration neutral.

    Born in St. Paul, Minnesota, Dan received his B.A. from the University of Minnesota and his law degree from the University of Minnesota Law School. Dan joined Briggs in 1989.
