Lawyer Overview

Dan Carter represents employers in all areas of labor and employment law. He has extensive experience counseling employers and handling traditional matters arising under the National Labor Relations Act, the Occupational Safety and Health Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Workers Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, and other state and federal labor statutes. He also has litigated and tried numerous bench and jury employment cases, including claims for sex, age, religious, race, and disability discrimination; sexual harassment; wrongful discharge; breach of contract; emotional distress; defamation; and negligent retention.

He is a member of the ABA (Labor and Employment Law Section), the Atlanta Bar Association, the State Bar of Georgia, the Ohio State Bar Association, and the Lawyers Club of Atlanta. Dan is the author of a variety of articles on labor and employment law issues. He is a regular speaker at employment and management law programs for organizations such as the National Business Institute, Council on Education in Management, Institute for Applied Management and Law, Valley Educational Institute, Personnel Management Advisory Council, International Quality & Productivity Center, the American Arbitration Association Department of Education & Training, the Georgia Institute of Technology, and the Institute of Continuing Legal Education in Georgia. He is also a founding member of the board of directors and past vice president of the Georgia Labor–Management Conference, Inc., an educational seminar attended annually by 300-400 labor relations professionals and representatives. He has been selected as one of "America's Leading Lawyers for Business" by Chambers and Partners USA Guide for 2006 and 2007 and a "Georgia Super Lawyer" for 2007.
