Lawyer Overview

Mark Haranzo is a partner in the Trusts and Estates Department. He represents domestic and international high net worth individuals, their families and foundations throughout the United States and abroad. He also represents other tax exempt organizations. Mark regularly counsels corporate and individual fiduciaries in all aspects of trust and estate administration. Mark also counsels clients with respect to asset protection planning, including preparation of prenuptial agreements. He practices in the firm's Stamford and New York City offices.

Mark is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and the U.K. based Society of Trust and Estate Professionals. Mark is a frequent lecturer and has lectured extensively for the New York State Bar Association, Practicing Law Institute and the New York Bankers' Association Trust and Estate Schools. He is the Co-Chair of the Education Committee of The Archdiocese of New York, Planned Giving Committee and has chaired a number of the Committee's Annual Law Seminars. Mark is one of four co-authors of Harris' 5th Edition, New York Estates, a three volume practice guide published by WestGroup .

A graduate of the University of South Florida, he received his law degree from Stetson University College of Law in 1985. From 1986 to 1988 Mark was an Estate and Gift Tax Attorney with the Internal Revenue Service, Manhattan District.

Mark is admitted to practice in Connecticut, Florida, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, West Virginia, and as a solicitor in England and Wales. He is also a member of the Trusts and Estates Section of the New York State Bar Association, the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section of The Florida Bar, the Probate Law Section of the Massachusetts Bar Association and the Estates and Probate Section of the Connecticut Bar Association. He was formerly Co-Chair of the Surrogate's Court Practice and Trust and Estate Administration Committee of New York County Lawyer's Association and a former member of the Estate and Gift Tax Committee of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York.

Mark serves on the Board of Trustees of the American Museum in Britain at Claverton Manor, Bath U.K., as well as the Halcyon Foundation of New York City which supports The American Museum in Britain, and is an officer of Two Mauds, Inc., an animal welfare organization. He also is on the Board of Directors of The Sara Taccone Foundation for the Arts and is a past Director of the Stamford Symphony Orchestra and is a past Commander of the Darien Sail and Power Squadron.
