Fred B. Ringel is a partner in the Firm's Bankruptcy and Business Reorganization department. His practice focuses on a broad range of complex bankruptcy issues. Mr. Ringel has represented clients in a wide variety roles in chapter 11 and chapter 7 proceedings including debtors, trade creditors, secured lenders, landlords, trustees and purchasers of businesses and assets.
Mr. Ringel has represented a wide variety of clients in complex chapter 11 cases throughout the country including representation of the creditor's committee in In re Federated Stores Inc., and the representation of over thirty five (35) shopping center owners in In re Kmart Corporation. Other cases were Mr. Ringel had significant involvement include In re Caldor; In re Filene's Basement; In re Ames; In re Flemming Companies and In re Ground Round. Mr. Ringel is an ""AV"" rated attorney by Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating available to attorneys.
Mr. Ringel graduated from the State University of New York at Buffalo with a B.A. in 1982 and received his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School in 1985. Mr. Ringel was formerly an Assistant Corporation Counsel with the City of New York before joining the firm in 1988.
Mr. Ringel is admitted to practice in the State of New York, the State of New Jersey, the United States District Court for the Southern, Northern and Eastern Districts of New York and the United States Court of Appeals for the Second and Seventh Circuits. He is a member of the American Bar Association, Association of the Bar of the City of New York and the American Bankruptcy Institute.
