Lawyer Overview

Jörg Rehder's practice focuses primarily on outbound and inbound corporate investments between Germany and the United States. He has represented and advised German companies, including manufacturers, emerging growth, and service companies, with respect to greenfield investments, joint ventures, and acquisitions in the United States as well as with ongoing commercial activities in the U.S., specifically licensing matters and general corporate, employment, and distribution issues.

Jörg practiced in the United States for several years and worked with U.S. companies, both Fortune 500 and start-ups, doing business in Germany. This work included M&A, general corporate, securities, distribution, and employment law. While practicing in the U.S. he was involved in a number of securities offerings, including initial public offerings as underwriter's counsel for Piper Jaffray and private placements. He was also involved in negotiating and advising on mergers and acquisitions for companies such as Cowles Business Media and Cray Research.

Since joining Jones Day, Jörg has been involved in a number of cross-border acquisitions and divestitures, including Goodrich Corporation's acquisition of Hella Aerospace GmbH, TransTechnology's divestiture of Seeger-Orbis GmbH & Co. OHG, The Riverside Company's acquisition of the Ceram Insulator Companies, and EMME S.A.'s acquisition of BMS Modern Games Handelsagentur GmbH.

Prior to joining Jones Day, Jörg worked for more than six years in the corporate finance and international business law groups of Faegre & Benson LLP in Minneapolis, Minnesota and in Frankfurt and for three years with Gleiss Lutz Hootz Hirsch in Stuttgart and Berlin. Jörg is fluent in German. He is a member of the International Bar Association and is a frequent lecturer on various topics, including corporate law, distribution matters, and employment law.
