Arden earned her bachelor degree in English from Illinois State University. She holds a master's degree in counseling from Northern Illinois University. She then graduated near the top of her class from Loyola University of Chicago School of Law, where she earned her juris doctorate. While in law school Arden served on the editorial board for the Loyola Law Review and she published a Note on Conick v. Myer.
