Lawyer Overview

William Bowman's practice is principally in the area of litigation, including trial and appellate matters involving commercial, insurance coverage, environmental, antitrust, contract, trade regulation, and product liability litigation. He has practiced actively in federal and state courts and the District of Columbia, Virginia, Maryland, and in many other parts of the country.

Following graduation from law school, William served as a law clerk to The Honorable Thomas A. Flannery of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. From 1977 to 1983, he was an assistant U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia, handling an active criminal trial and appellate practice and serving for two and one-half years as Chief of the Career Criminal Unit. He then spent a year as Chief Counsel to the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee Subcommittee on Juvenile Justice.

William joined Hogan & Hartson in 1984 and has handled a wide-ranging litigation practice since that time. He is active in professional activities related to litigation.
