Lawyer Overview

Patrick Hu advises multinational corporations in their international finance and commercial transactions involving the United States and Canada, Europe, Asia, and the Greater China region. He focuses on international mergers and acquisitions, private equity, foreign direct investment, and other cross-border business transactions and represents manufacturing and industrial clients in various industries including electric power generation, automotive, consumer products, real estate, construction, and others. He also advises and represents major state-owned Chinese companies in their overseas investment projects.

Patrick's recent experience includes the following: representing multinational companies in the acquisition, formation, and operation of wholly foreign-owned manufacturing enterprises in semiconductor, automotive products, home appliance, consumer products, and other commercial and industrial sectors in China; representing private equity investors and technology companies in numerous equity financing deals in telecommunication, media, e-commerce, computer software, real estate, and food and beverage in China; and representing major Chinese state-owned companies in the acquisition of mining assets and electric power development projects outside China.

Patrick frequently speaks on international M&A deals involving China to existing and prospective clients, government agencies, commerce and trade associations, as well as industry conferences and seminars. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the State of Minnesota Bar Association, and the District of Columbia Bar Association. As a native of Shanghai, and having received legal education and practiced in the United States, Patrick is fluent in English and Chinese (including Mandarin, Shanghai dialect, and Cantonese).
