Law Firm Overview
Mary Hoeller was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She graduated from nurses training in 1974 and organized nurses in a collective bargaining unit in Hartford, Connecticut in 1979. She obtained her Bachelors of Art degree in psychology from the University of Hartford, in Hartford, Connecticut and started law school in 1979 in Little Rock, Arkansas. She then moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, graduating from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 1982.
After graduating from law school Mary worked as an intern in labor arbitration and handled collective bargaining disputes for the steel workers and coal miners in the western Pennsylvania, West Virginia area. She became the first woman arbitrator on the Weirton, West Virginia Steel Company's expedited arbitration panel for collective bargaining disputes. Mary next practiced as a staff attorney at a hospital in Pittsburgh. She supervised the defense of all employment discrimination and professional liability claims against the hospital and developed policies and procedures for its human relations department.
In 1985, Mary moved to Indianapolis and litigated cases in State and Federal Courts. She was admitted to the Indiana Bar in October of 1985 and has been admitted to practice before the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals,the United States Supreme Court and Tax Court. Mary has been involved in environmental, asbestos and health coverage litigation, toxic torts, medical malpractice, personal injury and products liability cases. She has represented home builders and other companies in the Indianapolis area for which she has litigated employee disputes and provided advice in employment and contract disputes.
Since 2001 Mary has the following mediation training: Domestic Relations, Elder Law, Civil and Foreclosure Mediation. This training is meant to better serve her clients wishing to be more proactive in the outcome of their disputes.
Mary has three children. She volunteers as a judge in the teen court program (Reach for Youth) and attends prayer vigils at homicide sites in Indianapolis, among other civic engagements.
Mary serves on the Executive Committee of the Woman and the Law Division and Solo and Small Firm Practice sections of the Indianapolis Bar Association and is a member of the Improvements to the Judiciary Committee of the Indiana Bar Association. She is the secretary of the Indiana Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Lawyers.
