Joel was admitted to practice law in Ohio in 1966 and Michigan in 1972. He is a member in the firm's Business Transactions group focusing on corporate, finance, partnership, real estate and syndications law.

Areas of Emphasis

Corporate Law

Joel represents clients in general corporate matters, including shareholders agreements, acquisitions, mergers, other contract matters and structuring business relationships.

Real Estate Law

He represents owners, developers and operators in all aspects of real estate law, including property acquisition, property development, governmental relationships, construction, finance, joint ventures, sales, leasing, subdivisions, title and survey matters. Joel also represents clients in conveyancing and related matters including easements and deed restrictions.

Partnership Law

Joel represents clients in negotiating and structuring partnerships, joint ventures, limited liability companies and other business relationships.

Finance Law

He represents both borrowers and lenders in asset based financing, including real estate and unsecured financing, including both institutional and securitized financings.

Syndications

Joel represents issuers in equity financing, including private placements and registered offerings as well as institutional equity placements, and including real estate, corporate, tax-oriented and income-oriented transactions.
