Lawyer Overview

Tommy Chen has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, private equity, venture capital, securities, IPOs, and other corporate and commercial matters, including restructurings and reorganizations and technology licensing and transfer. He has advised companies in a wide variety of industrial sectors, including automotive, hi-tech, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, energy, media and telecommunications, transportation, banking and insurance, construction, consumer products, and multilevel distribution.

Tommy has led several complex M&A deals, many of which were the first of their kind in Taiwan, including the restructuring of Yulon Motor, the share swap between UTAC and UTC, the joint establishment of WPI Holdings, and InterVideo's merger with Ulead. His experience also includes Taiwan antitrust and competition matters, and he teaches a course at a local university on fair trade law. In addition, he has been involved in a number of significant investment projects in China for Taiwan companies. He also has assisted many multinational companies with their projects in the Greater China region and has advised them on a wide range of regulatory compliance issues, such as foreign direct investment, labor and employment law, environmental regulations, and corporate governance matters.

Tommy is frequently invited to speak at seminars and workshops, and has written a number of articles as well, on M&A and corporate governance issues in Taiwan. He is a member of New York State Bar Association and has worked in the Firm's Los Angeles and Shanghai offices.
