Lawyer Overview
Robert A. Fippinger, a partner in the New York office, is a member of the firm’s Public Finance Department. He focuses his practice on public finance and securities law of complex transactions in public finance and broker-dealer compliance with regulatory law for municipal securities. Mr. Fippinger is the author of the two volume treatise “The Securities Law of Public Finance,” published by the Practicing Law Institute. This is updated annually to provide current information on the application of the federal securities laws to government financing. The treatise describes securities law implications of sophisticated transactions, structuring techniques to avoid securities law liabilities, the obligations of issuers under the securities laws, and the regulatory responsibilities of broker-dealers. A legal educator, Mr. Fippinger has been an Adjunct Associate Professor of Law at the New York University School of Law between 1983 and 1987, was a Visiting Lecturer in Law at Yale University Law School between 1987 and 1991 and an Adjunct Law Professor at Hofstra Law School between 2000 and 2004. He has acted as an expert witness in securities law matters, a federal arbitrator, and routinely lectures at legal seminars.
