Lawyer Overview

Mr. Ma focuses his practice on business litigation.  Mr. Ma's experience includes:

  • Defending companies and their officers and/or directors in securities litigation and related proceedings, including class actions, derivative lawsuits, and proceedings before the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
  • Representing and advising operators and developers of casinos and hotels in Las Vegas and other cities in various lawsuits and other proceedings involving, among other things, purchase agreements, development rights, and state gaming licenses.
  • Representing motion picture studios and film production companies in business disputes, including litigation relating to licensing regarding the exploitation of character rights generating in excess of $1 billion.
  • Prosecuting and defending professional malpractice claims involving accountants and attorneys, including achieving a multi-million dollar jury verdict in favor of a college against its former accountants for a failed audit relating to the college's investment policy.
  • Numerous other civil litigation matters involving, among other things, real estate development, products liability, and private investment firms.

    Mr. Ma received his Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, from Georgetown University in 1992.  Mr. Ma received his Juris Doctor in 1995 from Northwestern University School of Law, where he participated in the Julius Minor Moot Court Competition and served as an editor with the Journal of Criminal Law and Criminology.  Mr. Ma is admitted to practice law in the State of California and the State of Illinois.
