Lawyer Overview
Rob Lindefjeld practices patent, copyright, trademark, trade secrets, and unfair competition law and has been involved in litigation, transactional, opinion, counseling, or appellate work in each of these areas. He has extensive experience in infringement and trade secret litigation in state and federal courts, including the U.S. International Trade Commission under Section 337 of the Tariff Act of 1930, and general business and commercial litigation and appeals.
He has also drafted confidentiality, technology transfer, and license agreements involving a wide variety of intellectual property interests, including computer software, mechanical, and the chemical arts. He is also responsible for preparing and prosecuting patent and trademark applications before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He is fluent in German and resided there for many years.
Rob is secretary of the American Bar Association's Section of Intellectual Property Law and served as president of the Pittsburgh Intellectual Property Law Association (2004-2005). He is a past chair of the Pennsylvania Bar Association's Section of Intellectual Property Law (1998-1999) and served as a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association House of Delegates, representing Allegheny County along with other Zone 12 delegates (1999-2005).
Rob is listed in the intellectual property sections of The Best Lawyers in America, Chambers USA: America's Leading Business Lawyers, and Pennsylvania Super Lawyers and is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Institute Intellectual Property Advisory Committee. He serves on the Professional Programs Committee of the American Intellectual Property Law Association and has written and lectured frequently on all aspects of intellectual property law. He has served as an adjunct professor of law at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, where he taught the course on patent litigation. Rob presently serves as co-chair of the Local Patent Rules Committee for the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.
