Juergensmeyer and Associates is a general practice law firm with offices in Elgin and Chicago, Illinois. The firm handles a broad variety of legal needs for clients, primarily in the Chicago Metropolitan Area, including the nearby counties of Kane, DuPage, McHenry, Lake and DeKalb. Depending on our clients' specific needs, we also practice in counties throughout the rest of the state of Illinois. The firm places a special emphasis on personal injury and worker's compensation law, including medical malpractice, professional malpractice, construction injuries, automobile collisions, and all work related injuries. We focus on protecting the rights of and recovering compensation for people who have been injured by the carelessness of others, and people who have been injured while working. These types of cases are almost always handled on a "contingency fee" basis, which means that our personal injury and worker's compensation clients do not pay any attorney's fees until they recover compensation for their injuries.

In addition, we represent a number of local governments and special taxing districts, and we have represented dozens of library districts, junior colleges, other school organizations, and fire protection districts. We represent numerous corporations and partnerships, particularly in broadcasting, professional associations, and other business and commercial matters, as well as many other fields.

Juergensmeyer & Associates also maintains a very active practice in divorce and matrimonial law, support, adoption, juvenile matters, paternity and all aspects of family law. We also handle bankruptcies and criminal defense matters, including driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs (DUI) and other traffic matters, real estate, wills, trusts, probate, and estate matters. The firm frequently utilizes and participates in arbitration, meditation, conciliation, and other alternative dispute resolution procedures. We are available to handle trials and appeals at the Circuit, Appellate, and Supreme Court levels in the State of Illinois, as well as in United States District, and Appellate Courts, and the United States Supreme Court. The firm has also handled cases outside of Illinois on a pro hac vice basis. Members of the firm have been very active in local, state and national civic and professional activities, and have served on a number of bank, college and other corporate boards of directors. John E. Juergensmeyer has been quite active throughout his 46 years of practice in the Elgin Area in various bar associations. He has taught for many years at Judson College in Elgin, Illinois, has lectured and spoken before many legal and professional associations, and has written for and been published in several professional publications. In addition, attorneys in the firm have served in a large variety of civic, religious, and governmental positions.
