Lawyer Overview

Chris is Of Counsel in the firm of Briggs and Morgan, Professional Association. He is based in our Minneapolis office and is a member of the Business Law Section. Chris practices principally in the areas of:

• Corporate finance law
• SEC practice
• Securities offerings
• Mutual funds and investment advisers

Chris concentrates his practice in securities law, corporate financing, mutual funds, and mergers and acquisitions. He represents public companies in general corporate law and SEC matters. His practice also includes representation of mutual fund families under the Investment Company Act of 1940. He has completed numerous private placements of debt and equity, as well as registered public offerings. Chris has handled spinoff and merger transactions in the airline industry and public tender offers in the airline, retailing and software industries. He also has extensive experience with securitizations for manufactured housing, home equity and home improvement loans, and recreational equipment loans ranging in size from approximately $150 million to over $1 billion.

Chris is admitted to practice before the Minnesota and Wisconsin state courts and is a member of the Hennepin County, Minnesota and Wisconsin State, and American Bar associations. He was named to the Chambers USA's list of “America's Leading Business Lawyers” for 2003-2004.

Born in Calcutta, India, Chris received his B.A. and law degrees from the University of Wisconsin, where he was note and comment editor for the Wisconsin Law Review. Chris joined Briggs in 1986.
