Lawyer Overview

Steve DeCosse has more than 20 years experience in advising clients on cross-border public and private M&A, joint ventures and strategic alliances, and equity investments. He brings to his practice in Japan close to 10 years' experience as a corporate/M&A partner based on the West Coast of the U.S. as well as several years prior experience as a foreign lawyer in Tokyo at a leading Japanese law firm. He is fluent in Japanese.

Steve's recent experience includes representation of a major Japanese company in acquiring a U.S. company out of chapter 11 reorganization proceedings, a major Japanese company in connection with a global joint venture with a U.S. company, a major Japanese company in connection with the restructuring of its overseas businesses, an offshore private equity fund in matters relating to an acquisition of a Japanese public company, an offshore private equity fund in its joint venture with a major Japanese company, and a listed Japanese biotech company in an investment in and strategic alliance with a Nasdaq-listed U.S. biotech company.
