Over the course of his legal career, Martin Solomon has fought to ensure justice for personal injury victims and consumers in a wide variety of cases (including auto accident, medical malpractice, and dog bite injuries) and to hold negligent or reckless corporations, government agencies, and other wrongdoers accountable for the harm they cause. Under Martin Solomon's leadership, Solomon & Relihan P.C. was one of the first Arizona law firms to take seriously the growing problem of neglect and abuse in skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, and group homes for the developmentally disabled and persons with special needs. Solomon & Relihan P.C. took to trial the first A.R. S. 46-455(B) nursing home neglect case to reach a jury in Maricopa County, obtaining a verdict for $570,000 in compensatory damages and $10 million in punitive damages because the nursing home allowed a resident to become malnourished and develop Stage III and Stage IV pressure ulcers, ultimately causing the resident's death from sepsis.

To effectively represent the victim of abuse and neglect in a nursing home, a lawyer also must be keenly aware of the requirements imposed by federal and state law on skilled nursing facilities and nursing facilities (including the Arizona statute that creates a statutory civil cause of action on behalf of vulnerable or incapacitated adults who suffer abuse, neglect, or exploitation), the federal and state cases interpreting those laws and requirements, the activities of the federal and state agencies that pay for the majority of care provided in these facilities, and the activities of the state and federal agencies responsible for enforcing those laws and requirements. For over fifteen years, the attorneys at Solomon & Relihan P.C. have tracked and studied the changes in the federal and state nursing home statutes and regulations, and we gather evidence from a wide variety of sources to support our clients' claims, including the federal Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services [CMS], the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System [AHCCCS], the Arizona Long Term Care System [ALTCS], the Arizona Adult Protective Services [APS], and the Arizona Department of Health Services [ADHS]. As a result of our experience, SOLOMON & RELIHAN P. C. has access to information about such Arizona nursing homes as:

Arizona Assisted Living Facility Neglect, Abuse, and Medical Malpractice Attorney
Martin Solomon knows that the problem of neglect, negligence, and abuse is not limited to skilled nursing facilities and other types of nursing homes; such tragedies also occur in assisted living centers, assisted living homes, and adult foster care homes. Vulnerable residents of assisted living facilities can suffer serious injury or death if necessary and appropriate care and supervision are not provided, when a facility is understaffed or does not have sufficient trained staff to meet the needs of the residents, or when an assisted living facility admits someone whose needs exceed the facility's ability to provide care, such as a resident who is bedbound or has a Stage III or Stage IV pressure ulcer.
To effectively handle a claim against an assisted living facility for abuse, negligence, or neglect, a lawyer must be familiar with the different types of facilities and the various statutes, regulations, and requirements that apply to each type of facility, such as:

Martin Solomon and Solomon & Relihan P.C. have the knowledge and experience necessary to successfully resolve your case. Arizona Group Home Neglect, Abuse, and Negligence Attorney
The Developmental Disabilities Division of the Arizona Department of Economic Security [DES/DDD] contracts with private "service providers" to provide supervision and services to developmentally disabled persons, often in a group home setting. Martin Solomon knows the problems and shortcomings of group homes, as well as the concerns of parents of children with developmental disabilities and other special needs. Sadly, the individuals hired to staff these group homes do not always have the training, experience, or temperament to provide the care that special needs children and adults need and deserve. Serious injuries and even death can be the result.
Bringing a negligence, abuse, or neglect claim against a group home can be difficult because of the relationships between the service provider and the State of Arizona. To properly assert such a claim, a lawyer must have in-depth knowledge not only of the group home industry, but also the special rules, procedures, and deadlines that apply to claims made against the State of Arizona and its agencies. At Solomon & Relihan P.C., we have the knowledge and experience necessary to successfully represent you and your loved ones.
