A partner, member of the firm's Management Committee, deputy chair of the Corporate Department and co-head of the Private Equity Group, Douglas Cifu has a broad M&A and private equity practice. Private Equity International recently included Mr. Cifu in its list of the 30 most influential lawyers currently working in global private equity, citing in particular his expertise in technology-driven sectors. He is recognized in the 2006 Chambers Guide as a leading private equity lawyer for buyouts and venture capital. Crain's New York Business has recognized Mr. Cifu in its ""Technology 100,"" a listing of the top 100 persons working in technology in the New York area. He works on a wide variety of corporate transactions, including public and private mergers and acquisitions, venture capital financings, joint ventures and financing transactions.

His recent experience includes representation of:

• Polo Ralph Lauren Corporation in connection with the acquisition of Impact 21 Co., its Japanese sub-licensee for men's, women's and jeans apparel and accessories, and in connection with the purchase of the remaining 50 percent interest in its Japanese Master Licensee, Polo Ralph Lauren Japan.

• General Atlantic LLC in its $1.5 billion acquisition of a 52 percent interest in the Emdeon Business Services segment of Emdeon Corporation, the parent of Web MD;

• MultiPlan, Inc., the largest independent preferred provider organization in America , in connection with its acquisition by The Carlyle Group;

• Automatic Data Processing, Inc., in the $975 million sale of its Claims Services Group, the largest global provider of automotive claims solutions;

• Polo Ralph Lauren Corporation in its $355 million reacquisition of the Polo Jeans business;

• General Atlantic LLC in connection with the $160 million acquisition of a 10 percent equity stake in NYMEX Holdings, Inc., owner of The New York Mercantile Exchange;

• General Atlantic LLC, as 22% owner of Archipelago Holdings Inc., in connection with the sale of Archipelago to the New York Stock Exchange;

• Pitney Bowes Inc. in its proposed $55.5 million acquisition of Firstlogic, Inc., a market leader in data quality and mailing software and services;

• General Atlantic LLC in the $197 million acquisition of Dice Inc., a provider of online technology recruiting and career development services;

• Polo Ralph Lauren in the $110 million acquisition of Ralph Lauren Footwear Co., its global licensee for footwear;

• General Atlantic LLC in the $250 million acquisition of Webloyalty.com Inc., a leading provider of online marketing and subscription services;

• General Atlantic LLC, as part of an investor group, in a $350 million convertible preferred stock and warrant investment in Lenovo Group Limited, in connection with Lenovo' s $1.75 billion acquisition of IBM's PC business; and

• General Atlantic LLC and Oak Hill Capital Partners in the acquisition of a 60% stake in GE Capital International Services, GE's global BPO operation;

Mr. Cifu was a member of the Columbia Journal of Law and Social Problems and was a recipient of the Willen Memorial Political Science Prize.
