Mark L. Kowalsky is a member of the Firm's Litigation and Securities Practice Groups specializing in civil litigation with concentrations in securities law and commercial disputes. He is routinely involved in handling disputes that involve securities investments, brokerage industry employment, contracts, non-competition agreements, trade secrets, employment, shareholders, partnerships, dissolutions, collections and leasing. Mr. Kowalsky regularly provides advice and representation to regional, national and international securities firms, public and privately held corporations, and individuals. He has extensive experience in federal and state courts, arbitration, mediation and in securities law regulatory matters. These matters often involve requests for immediate injunctive relief and the use of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), including arbitration and mediation. He has accepted appointments as an arbitrator for the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD), New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), American Arbitration Association (AAA), National Arbitration Forum, as well as a mediator for the Oakland County Circuit Court and District Courts.

Mr. Kowalsky is a past lecturer on compliance and regulatory issues for a national securities firm and has co-authored several publications, including Preventing Security Breaches: Best Practices Under Michigan's New Notification Law, Michigan Computer Law (2007); The Need for Local Counsel in the Federal Court, Laches Magazine, March 2000; Federal Courts on the Information Superhighway, Laches Magazine, December 1996; Commercial Transactions Annual Survey of Michigan Law, 31 Wayne Law Review 355, 1985; and Securities Fraud and RICO Litigation Seminar, Federal or State Court v. Arbitration, published for a Detroit Bar Association seminar.

Mr. Kowalsky has served as counsel to a court appointed receiver. He was an invited speaker at the HMS Continuing Legal Education Advanced Litigation Skills for Paralegals seminar. His presentation was entitled Drafting More Effective Discovery Documents. Mr. Kowalsky also appeared as a guest on the Due Process television program to discuss securities arbitration claims.

Mr. Kowalsky is former Chair of the Federal Courts Committee of the Oakland County Bar Association where he moderated an annual practice seminar conducted in the Federal Courthouse by several Federal Court judges and their staff. He is currently Chair of the Greater West Bloomfield Cable Advisory Board where he led the negotiations to refranchise the cable system.

Mr. Kowalsky is a member of the State Bar of Michigan and is admitted to practice in the Eastern District of Michigan and Western District of Michigan and the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, Sixth Circuit, and Seventh Circuit.

He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Michigan with highest honors and high distinction in 1980, and received his Law Degree from the University of Michigan Law School in 1983.
