The Law Office of Alan M. Cass & Associates was established in 1980 and has represented thousands of injured workers'. We have handled over 26,000 separate claims and participated in well over 100,000 hearings, trials and appeals. The firm is presently made up of 3 attorneys: Alan Cass and his partner Edward Hilfer, Joseph Baugh and Steve Cohen as licensed representative.

The members of the firm have extensive experience representing injured workers but have also worked for insurance companies in the past. Accordingly, we have the experience to know how an insurance company defends a claim and the best way to anticipate how an insurance company will try to deny your benefits.

Alan Cass started off his legal career in 1974 working for the City of New York in their Worker's Compensation Division. After leaving the City of New York in 1976 he worked for several leading workers' compensation firms where he represented many municipal and New York State workers. Since 1980 he has been the principal of Alan M. Cass and Associates. Presently he is an advisor to and panel member of the City Bar Association Workers' Compensation Committee.

 Edward Hilfer a partner since 1995 and a member of the firm since 1992 has extensive experience in representing injured workers' as well as insurance companies. Ed started his legal career working for the New York State Insurance Fund in 1981. He also worked for a defense firm for a number of years before coming on board with the office of Alan C. Cass and Associates. Besides his work in the courtroom, Ed has been president of the Society of New York Workers' Compensation Bar Association and a present board member.

Joseph Baugh has been practicing law since 1992. After a number of years in landlord tenant work he has been practicing exclusively before the Workers' Compensation Board since 2000. He has been associated with the firm of Alan M. Cass and Associates since 2004.

Steve Cohen is a licensed representative who has practiced exclusively in the field of workers' compensation for over 30 years. Steve worked for the New York State Insurance Fund as a hearing representative for over 20 years. As such he has detailed knowledge of what insurance companies think when presented with a claim. He has the knowledge and expertise to get the maximum award possible out of the insurance company. Steve has been working with Alan M. Cass and Associates since 2001.

In addition to the above people who represent you at the hearing level we have a dedicated staff working behind the scenes to gather information in your case, answer your questions, and make sure you are able to obtain maximum benefits for your loss.

Ted Boritz is our settlement coordinator. Ted has over 30 years of experience in the workers' compensation field. He was a director of the hearing division at the New York State Insurance Fund and therefore is intimately familiar with how insurance companies evaluate claims and is able to get the maximum benefits from them when it becomes time to settle. Ted has been with this office since 2006.

Maria Cabrera our office manager has been with us since 2001. She is the person behind the scenes coordinating everything to ensure that all goes right.

Eric Rosario is a paralegal in the office and has been with us since 2006. He has 27 years of experience in the workers' compensation field.

Diana Gonzalez our settlement paralegal has been with us since 2006 and has been in the field of workers' compensation since 1994.
