Bob Avery advises public and private companies focusing on corporate governance, M&A, and securities matters.

Bob has represented the Washington Division of URS Corporation (formerly Washington Group International) for more than 30 years. Examples of transactions for the company include: the acquisition of Washington Group by URS; the formation, and ultimate winding up, of a joint venture with British Nuclear Fuels plc to acquire the Westinghouse nuclear assets from CBS; the acquisition of Raytheon Engineers & Constructors; and representation of Morrison Knudsen Corporation in its merger with Washington Construction Group as part of Morrison Knudsen's chapter 11 proceedings.

Bob also regularly advises Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan and Micron Technology. Among other clients Bob has represented in recent years are Bridgestone/Firestone, Physicians Clinical Laboratory, Trillium Digital Systems, Automatic Data Processing, Harman International Industries, Invensys plc, and CalPERS.

Bob formerly acted as general counsel to Los Angeles Export Terminal, a consortium of American and Japanese entities that developed, owned, and operated a coal exporting facility at the Port of Los Angeles, and also formerly acted as general counsel to LAXFUEL Corporation, a consortium of airlines that leases and operates the fueling system at Los Angeles International Airport.
