Lawyer Overview

Lee has represented clients around the world in cases involving banking, securities, mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property, media and entertainment, white-collar criminal, governmental investigations, contracts, construction, employment law, shareholder and partnership disputes, fraud, and other business torts. His experience is in high-stakes, complex disputes. He has acted as lead trial counsel in jury and bench trials in several jurisdictions, successfully trying cases on behalf of clients in industries ranging from banking and financial disputes to intellectual property actions to construction litigation. Most recently, in February 2008, Lee represented The Royal Bank of Scotland and Citizens Financial Group at trial in a federal trademark infringement case in Michigan, obtaining a dismissal of all claims and a complete victory for these institutions. Lee has handled high-profile cases in the entertainment field. For example, he defended movie producers at the highly publicized jury trial involving Woody Allen, resulting in a settlement after two weeks of trial. In another case, he secured a unanimous jury verdict in favor of famed jewelry company Harry Winston in a case brought by a former employee.

Lee often advises clients faced with parallel civil and criminal proceedings as well as investigations that involve regulatory, criminal, civil, and public relations issues. Several of Lee's cases involve clients, litigation, and discovery outside the United States; and his work includes advising foreign corporations regarding the business and legal implications of doing business in the United States. For several years now, Lee has defended foreign-based financial institutions in the large securities and other litigation relating to the collapse of Enron, one of the largest and most complex cases involving well over 100 million documents and 1,000 depositions. He has handled numerous preliminary injunction hearings in various venues, securing orders protecting company trade secrets, defeating attempts to block mergers, successfully enjoining a proposed merger, and freezing assets. He also has successfully argued before appellate courts and represented clients at arbitration proceedings.

Lee is regularly called upon by the media to comment on legal issues of national interest. He has been quoted in various print media and has appeared numerous times on national television, providing legal analysis and debating high-profile cases. He can be seen weekly on the nationally televised show America's Newsroom. Lee also teaches courses on litigation topics and trial skills for continuing legal education programs and clients.
