The firm was established in 1982 by attorneys whose primary emphasis was in trial and appellate practice. The firm concentrates its practice in litigation in a variety of fields. The firm is engaged in the representation of individuals, businesses, corporations, municipalities, counties and other governmental entities and their employees in the defense of civil suits brought against them. A significant concentration of the firm's practice is in defense of civil rights cases throughout Tennessee. The firm has represented and continues to represent a number of individuals, businesses and governmental entities in employment rights litigation, including cases alleging discrimination based upon sex, age, race, national origin, religion, physical or mental disabilities, political activities and speech. Other areas of litigation in which the firm is involved includes products liability, legal malpractice, medical malpractice, automobile insurance law, contract law, environmental law, commercial litigation, workers' compensation. The firm has acted as regional and national coordinating counsel throughout the country. Members of the firm have conducted numerous seminars and written on legal issues. Mr. Watson and Mr. Roach are certified by the National Board of Trial Advocacy and the Tennessee Commission on Continuing Legal Education and Specialization. Mr. Watson and Mr. Roach are certified Rule 31 Mediators by the Tennessee Commission on Alternative Dispute Resolution. The firm is listed in the Bar Register of Pre-Eminent Lawyers.
