Lawyer Overview

Jan Kevin Myers was graduated from the State University of New York in Albany and Syracuse University College of Law

Jan Kevin Myers was graduated from the State University of New York in Albany and Syracuse University College of Law. After an early career as an associate general counsel at AMBAC Indemnity Corporation, Mr. Myers joined the firm in 1985 and began intensive work in the trial of civil jury cases. He has a proven track record handling difficult trials to verdict and specializes in those cases involving high jury verdict exposure, or where the client is the primary target or where the venue of trial is dangerous, or the result may have critical business implications for the client. Mr. Myers also chairs our construction litigation practice and tries cases where liability is absolute against the client and require not only defense of the plaintiff's claims of serious injuries, but also enforcement of the client's rights to indemnification from responsible contractors.

Mr. Myers is a member of the American Bar Association Litigation Section and Construction Law Forum, the New York State Bar Association, (Torts, Insurance, and Compensation Law Section and Construction and Surety Law Division), the New York Building Congress, the Defense Research Institute, and an allied member of the American Institute of Architects. He served as a member of the Committee on Professional Discipline of the New York State Bar Association and was a member of a select subcommittee specially authorized by the presiding justices of appellate courts throughout the State to examine and report to the State Bar on the standards of attorney discipline from 1991 - 2003. He is the co-author of the chapter entitled Site Safety in the leading text, New York Construction Law (Aspen Publishers 2003).
