Lawyer Overview

Jan Kevin Myers is a 1977 graduated of the State University of New York in Albany and a 1980 graduate of Syracuse University College of Law. After an early career in corporate law, Mr. Myers joined the firm in 1985 and began intensive work in the trial of civil jury cases. He has expertise in handling difficult trials to verdict and specializes in those cases involving high jury verdict exposure, or where the client is the primary target or where the venue of trial is dangerous, or the result may have critical business implications for the client. Mr. Myers supervises our construction and enviromental litigation practices and tries cases where liability is absolute against the client and require not only defense of the plaintiff's claims of serious injuries, but also enforcement of the client's rights to indemnification from responsible parties.

Mr. Myers is a member of the American Bar Association Litigation Section and Construction Law Forum, the New York State Bar Association, (Torts, Insurance, and Compensation Law Section and Construction and Surety Law Division), the New York Building Congress, the Defense Research Institute, an allied member of the American Institute of Architects and an associate member of The Associated Contractors of America. He served for twelve years as a member of the Committee on Professional Discipline of the New York State Bar Association and was a member of a select subcommittee specially authorized by the presiding justices of all of the appellate courts in the State to examine and report to the State Bar on the standards of attorney discipline. He is a co-author of the chapter entitled Site Safety in the leading text, New York Construction Law (Aspen Publishers 2003).
