Lawyer Overview

Allan Bloom is a partner in the Employment law practice of Paul Hastings in New York. He represents management in labor and employment law matters. Mr. Bloom is an experienced litigator who has successfully defended some of the world’s leading financial services, technology, consumer products, telecommunications, insurance, construction, and lodging companies, as well as global law firms, against claims of employment discrimination, wrongful discharge, breach of contract, and for unpaid compensation and benefits, both at the trial and appellate court levels. Mr. Bloom regularly advises publicly traded and privately held companies, as well as non-profit organizations and cultural institutions, on the hiring and termination of employees and consultants, the establishment and enforcement of workplace policies and practices, wage and hour compliance, reorganizations and reductions in force, labor-management relations, alternative dispute resolution, and the labor implications of mergers and acquisitions. Mr. Bloom also represents employers in administrative and agency proceedings (including before the EEOC, the NLRB, the U.S. Department of Labor, and state and local human rights agencies and departments of labor), in arbitration proceedings, in mediation, and in private negotiations. Mr. Bloom has spent much of his career representing and advising clients in the financial services industry, including before FINRA (and, previously, NASD and NYSE) arbitration panels. Mr. Bloom is a contributing editor to Lindemann & Grossman’s Employment Discrimination Law (4th ed. 2007), the American Bar Association’s official treatise in the field. He writes and speaks regularly on employment law issues, and was recognized as one of New York’s Super Lawyers in 2008 and 2007. Mr. Bloom graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1991, and from Cornell Law School in 1995. He is a member of the New York Bar and is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and the district courts throughout New York State. Mr. Bloom is an active member of the American and New York State Bar Associations.
