O. Joseph Chornenky, P.C. began his career more than 30 years ago and in that time has successfully defended thousands of clients in both state and federal court.

Mr. Chornenky was first admitted to practice law in 1970 in Ohio and Michigan after receiving his law degree from the University of Akron the same year. He began his career in Arizona in 1971 as a law clerk to Arizona Supreme Court Justice Jessie A. Udall and later served as Deputy Maricopa County Attorney, specializing in Homicide, Serious Crimes, and Serious Drug Offenses.

In 1974, after coming to the realization that human rights could better be protected and improved by defending individuals exposed to the uncontrolled power of police and government, Mr. Chornenky began his private practice defending the rights of individuals accused of violating the law. During his career, Mr. Chornenky has represented defendants in numerous high profile homicide and drug cases, as well as thousands of cases for other defendants. He has formidable trial skills and does not shy away from using innovative techniques and theories in order to get the best results for clients.

Mr. Chornenky is admitted to practice in Arizona, Colorado, the District of Columbia, Michigan, Ohio, the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court.

He is a member of the American Bar Association; Arizona, Colorado, District of Columbia, Michigan and Ohio Bar Associations; the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers; the Arizona Attorneys for Criminal Justice; and the California Attorneys for Criminal Justice.

Mr. Chornenky is Certified as a Criminal Law Specialist in the State of Arizona by the Board of Legal Specialization, he is rated AV by Martindale-Hubbell and Lead Counsel through LawInfo.com, for reaching the highest level of professional excellence.
