Chris made my divorce just about as pleasant as I think it could have been. From the very start he made everything as easy and simplistic as possible. I have had an exceptionally good experience working with Chris Schmiedeke Law office. Personal contact was mimimal, precise and helpful. My Child Support issue became necessary after the Texas Dept dropped the ball, DID nothing for over a year, month after month, shuffing me from agent to agent, and I had to fire them. I like many in this economic down-turn have extreme problems maintaining with old child support orders. By their own guidelines I qualified for a reduction of Child Support. I opened a case online with the Texas Attorney General, opened a can of worms! Chis to the rescue! For what to me meant a minimal charge; Chris stayed on the ball, through several contextural changes and resubmissions to change the order with the TX Attorney General, until the issue was resolved to my total satisfaction. After these 13 months of non action by the AG, and them telling me I would have to wait an additional 9 months to get a court date; (my son is 18 in Sept 2011 well after their court time proposal) I fired them. They suddenly found a court date (the next month) and Chris went to court for me. I live out of state in So California, and I never had to appear in a Texas court! Total time with AG, 13 months, total time with Chris handling the law talk, 4 months. Nuff said.
Chris was a great attorney, and handled my case with the closest attention. He understood what I wanted to achieve. He came up with a clear plan and timetable for me to accomplish the things I needed to do on my end, which gave me some needed structure to a confusing and unknown situation. I highly recommend using Chris for your legal needs.
Due to 5 years of custody battles over me when I was growing up and the nastiness between my parents, the idea of divorce was a "non issue" from fear of having to go through all of that. When our marriage got bad, and I talked to Lawyers, they all wanted to be ugly. It seemed that they were "driven" that way, and that is NOT what I wanted or what we wanted. However, the other option everyone gave me was doing it ourselves only if EVERYTHING was "standard" which it is not. Chris was SPECTACULAR. He has worked with me through the WHOLE process, being COMPLETELY understanding of our situation and compassionate all the way. He is truly the ONLY divorce attorney I would recommend. I knew from day one, IF we HAD to go to court when things got sticky, that he would be right beside me and fair.
A Very Knowledgeable and Understanding 21st Century Attorney Chris was my divorce attorney for a lengthy and sometimes bitter divorce process over the past two years. I was impressed with his knowledge and the availability of several integrated tools at my disposal to keep fully informed and get my questions answered/resolved in a very timely manner. As a busy executive, I consider the landline phone a relic of the past and fully embrace the use of the smart phone (text) and email due its efficiency and speed. I would estimate in excess of 90% of the business I did with Chris over the past two years was smartphone email/text based. Face-to-face meetings or phone conversations were available and conducted only when needed (i.e. court hearings, depositions, etc). I do not recall a time when sending an email that I did not receive a response the same day (even if Chris was in court that day). Normally the response would be immediate or in a couple hours. His billing practices are very reasonable and never did I get the feeling that I was being nickel and dimed. Chris is an understanding attorney and allowed me to express my frustrations, without prejudice!, concerning the long and sometimes inefficient divorce/legal process. Finally, he did an excellent job in the 11+ hour mediation that formed the basis of the final divorce decree. I fully intend to use Chris for any post decree legal issues that may come up.
Mr Schmiedeke is very competant . Very efficent and financially reasonable. He does not nickel and dime you to death like many attorneys. I would use him again and recommend him to my friends. It was the first pleasureable, easy interaction I have had with an attorney in along time. Even though they were hired by ME!!
Chris was always very quick to respond when a problem would arise. He always did what I asked him to do and made sure that the outcome was as close to what I had hoped for as possible. A great person to have on your side!
