Lawyer Overview

Robin is a shareholder in the firm of Briggs and Morgan, Professional Association. She is a member of the Business Litigation and Trade Regulation sections, along with the Securities and Financial Services Group. Robin concentrates her practice principally in the areas of:

  • Covenants not-to-compete
  • E-discovery counseling
  • Insurance coverage litigation
  • Franchise and distribution law
  • Antitrust law
Robin has extensive experience working with broker-dealers in the insurance and financial services industries. In these relationship-driven industries, she often counsels clients regarding non-compete agreements and assists in getting temporary restraining orders (TROs), as well as permanent injunctions against departing brokers when “employee raiding” occurs. Robin is also experienced in insurance coverage litigation.

With heightened use of electronically stored information, Robin assists clients in understanding the importance of preserving and producing electronic information. In addition to counseling clients, Robin presents an e-discovery seminar to clients and has served as a member of a client’s document retention policy committee.

In the area of franchise and distribution law, Robin has represented a number of franchisors and manufacturers in litigation involving claims for violations of state franchise acts, special industry and dealer acts, antitrust claims and breaches of contract. Her practice includes a franchise registration and disclosure component which involves drafting UFOCs, franchise agreements and handling franchise renewals. She also counsels clients on distribution strategies to avoid inadvertently creating a franchise.

Robin’s antitrust legal practice has included the defense of clients against antitrust claims, ranging from price fixing to predatory hiring. She also regularly counsels clients on price discrimination issues.

Robin is chair of the Volunteer Lawyers Network and a member of the Minnesota State and American Bar associations, as well as Minnesota Women Lawyers. She is also on the board of the Hennepin County Bar Association. Robin was named a "Minnesota Rising Star" by Minnesota Law & Politics.

Born in Hastings, Minnesota, Robin received her B.A. cum laude in psychology from Carleton College and her law degree magna cum laude from the University of Minnesota Law School, where she was elected to Order of the Coif. She joined Briggs in 1999.
