For 30 years, David has represented a wide range of clients in connection with various real estate projects including sales and purchases, financing, construction mortgages, term mortgages, contracts for deed, sale/leaseback transactions, ground leases and tax increment financing. David's representation has involved developer clients with land use and development issues. He has been involved in subdivision, zoning, restrictive covenants, environmental concerns and eminent domain proceedings. This representation has involved many different types of projects, including industrial, commercial, retail, office and shopping center properties, and residential properties.

His experience also includes extensive work in commercial, industrial and office space leases from both the landlord's and tenant's standpoint.

David's representation has also included the representation of financial institutions in connection with mortgage foreclosures, contract for deed cancellations and mechanic’s lien issues. David has extensive experience in the “workout” of properties owned by financial institutions.

For most of his career, David has served as the principal attorney at Briggs handling issues relating to classification and valuation of real estate for real estate taxation purposes. This has involved extensive experience in protesting and appealing real estate valuations and classifications, as well as experience in the appeal of assessments.

David also represents a number of clients in connection with general corporate matters, including formation of corporations, limited liability companies, partnerships, and drafting and negotiating shareholder agreements, buy/sell agreements, asset purchase sales and various general commercial contracts.

He has also represented financial institutions in connection with negotiating and documenting commercial loans. In addition, David has also represented banks and bank holding companies with respect to a variety of regulatory matters.

David is a member of the Ramsey County, Minnesota State and American Bar associations.

Born in St. Paul, Minnesota, David received his B.S. from Hamline University and his law degree cum laude from William Mitchell College of Law. He joined Briggs in 1975.
