Jonathan's practice is focused on patent litigation. He has worked on patent matters before U.S. district and appellate courts as well as the International Trade Commission. He has participated in a number of bench and jury trials and has been involved in every facet of patent litigation, from pre-suit investigation through trial and appeal. The patent cases on which Jonathan has worked have involved a broad range of technologies, including pharmaceuticals (COX-2 inhibitors, proton pump inhibitors, ACE inhibitors, vasodilators, sleep aids, and polyethylene glycol compositions), biotechnology (cell lines), medical devices and technology (orthopedic plating systems and tissue processing), and electrical engineering (flash memory technology). In addition, Jonathan has worked on licensing and transactional matters as they pertain to intellectual property rights.
Prior to joining Jones Day in 2005, Jonathan worked at the intellectual property boutique, Fitzpatrick, Cella, Harper & Scinto where his primary focus was on pharmaceutical patent litigation. In 2000, Jonathan worked as a visiting attorney in London with the British law firm, Bird & Bird, where he worked on trademark litigation, Internet domain name disputes, and patent litigation in a variety of disciplines, including pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and mechanical engineering.
Jonathan is a member of the American Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, the American Intellectual Property Law Association, and the New York Intellectual Property Law Association.
