He graduated from Hastings College of Law at the University of California where he was an editor of the Law Review and a member of the prestigious Order of the Coif. He served as a law clerk to Federal District Judges Robert Peckham and Oliver Carter in San Francisco and was a grader for the California Bar Exam. He has an outstanding reputation as a trial lawyer in cases involving defective products. Mr. Sekiya has been listed in a number of prestigious directories, including Who's Who in American Law and the Best Lawyers in America. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers.
