Tonya A. Jacobs is a partner in the Labor and Employment Group in Houston, Texas. Ms. Jacobs' national practice includes representing management in employment cases  involving  wrongful termination arising under federal law such as Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act, Age Discrimination in Employment Act and the Family and Medical Leave Act. Ms. Jacobs also represents management with respect to employment issues arising under state law including, but not limited to, workers' compensation, unemployment compensation, wage and hour, breach of contract, tortious interference, invasion of privacy and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

Ms. Jacobs has tried numerous cases in both state and federal courts litigating claims of sex, race, age and disability discrimination, as well as tort and retaliation claims. Ms. Jacobs also has significant experience representing employers before regulatory agencies including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Texas Commission on Human Rights and the Texas Workforce Commission, as well as other state regulatory agencies.

Ms. Jacobs' practice includes counseling employers in order to minimize employment disputes and potential litigation with respect to the full range of issues concerning the employment relationship  including wage and hour issues, personnel and policy manuals, and disciplinary issues. She also provides training to employers with respect to employment issues such as sexual harassment, management training and the Family and Medical Leave Act. 

In addition, Ms. Jacobs has significant experience in the area of restrictive covenants and their enforceability and has extensive experience in litigating claims involving violations of non-competition agreements, non-solicitation agreements and unfair competition.

Ms. Jacobs is a member of the American, Texas and Houston Bar Associations, as well as the Houston Management Lawyer's Forum and the Houston Young Lawyers Association. Ms. Jacobs is also active in the Interfaith Ministries of Houston and other volunteer organizations.
