A partner in the Litigation Department, Mr. Boehning has a diversified practice that includes complex commercial and civil litigation matters, insurance counseling and litigation, regulatory inquiries, internal investigations and international arbitrations. Significant matters include:
Representing a major financial institution in regulatory inquiries concerning recent developments in the sub-prime mortgage market.
- Representing a leading insurance company in connection with litigation concerning property, business interruption and disability coverage issues.
- Representing a major financial institution in regulatory inquiries and civil litigation arising out of investigations into the mutual fund industry and the independence of Wall Street research analysts.
- Representing Sumitomo Corporation in connection with regulatory inquiries and civil litigation arising out of unauthorized trading conducted by Sumitomo's former chief copper trader, Yasuo Hamanaka.
Reported decisions of interest include:
- Snelling & Snelling, Inc. v. Federal Ins. Co., 2006 WL 3019188 (5th Cir. 2006).
- DeMarco v. Lehman Brothers Inc., 222 F.R.D. 243 (S.D.N.Y. 2004).
- Sardanis v. Sumitomo Corp., 279 A.D.2d 225, 718 N.Y.S.2d 66 (1st Dept. 2001).
Mr. Boehning has been tapped as a "Future Star" by Benchmark Litigation. Mr. Boehning is regarded as an expert on e-discovery issues and has spoken at numerous conferences and seminars on such issues. He is a regular contributor to The New York Law Journal's Technology column on the topic, and is an ongoing participant in The Sedona Conference Working Group Series.
Mr. Boehning was editor in chief of the Washington University Law Quarterly and was elected to the Order of the Coif. Prior to entering law school, Mr. Boehning was a budget fellow with the New York State Executive Department, Division of the Budget. He currently serves on the Board of Soccer for Peace and on the National Council for Washington University School of Law.
