Carolyn Huestis is of counsel in the Cerritos office of Atkinson, Andelson, Loya, Ruud & Romo with over 27 years of experience in all aspects of real estate law. She was formerly a real estate partner at Pillsbury Winthrop in Los Angeles and Assistant General Counsel for Catellus Development Corporation.

Ms. Huestis earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from U.C. Berkeley in 1971 and her Juris Doctor from Loyola University School of Law in 1975.

Ms. Huestis has broad experience in real estate matters, including real property acquisitions and sales, leases, ground leases, construction and permanent financing for residential, commercial, office, retail and industrial developments, Mello-Roos and other bond financings, project finance transactions, development agreements, owner participation agreements, licenses, easements and contracts relating to the acquisition, development and construction of large residential, commercial, retail and industrial projects. She also has substantial experience with real property and loan workouts for troubled real estate projects and bulk sales of real estate projects.

Ms. Huestis also specializes in affordable housing matters, including construction and permanent financing for affordable housing rental projects, multi-family housing revenue bonds, HUD and other public agency loan and grant programs and tax credit projects.

Ms. Huestis is a member of the State Bar of California, past President of the Los Angeles Association of Real Estate Attorneys, Co-chair of the Affordable Housing Subsection of the Real Property Law Section of the State Bar (1994-95), member of the Executive Committee of the Real Property Law Section (1996-1998), member of the Los Angeles Conservancy and a director for the National Association for Hispanic Elderly. She has been a frequent lecturer on affordable housing and finance matters for the American Bar Association Forum on Affordable Housing and Community Development Law, Real Property Law Section of the California State Bar, Los Angeles County Bar Association and numerous banks and non-profit developers.
